A little taste: We came to Le Sargent Recruteur to celebrate my husband’s mom’s birthday with his brother and sister-in-law. The restaurant itself is stunning: white wood ceilings and brick walls; white walls; mirrors; long green banquettes and wood tables (white does seem to be a trend in trendy French restaurants). Despite the haute cuisine offered, the restaurant still felt cozy and quiet, with just a dozen tables. The food itself is pricey (appetizers are 20 euros and up, and entrees hover around 40), but the prix-fixe menu at 59 euros is a relative steal as it includes as an option (if you’re into it) foie gras. The service was extremely slow, so come expecting a long (3 hour+) drawn-out French meal. But the plating is gorgeous, and the food is delicate and flavorful. A pricey but good spot for a celebratory, romantic or business dinner.
